CIVCO Radiotherapy and Leo Cancer Care Collaborate to Integrate Immobilisation Devices for Upright Patient Positioning

In an industry striving for sub-millimeter accuracy when delivering radiation to a cancerous tumor, motion is our enemy. Humans are built to move, therefore, to improve treatment accuracy and patient outcomes, reducing anatomical motion is paramount.

Leo Cancer Care has developed a unique upright radiation therapy and CT imaging solution, combined with a fixed radiation beam and slow patient rotation. The novel upright solution has been developed using research and evidence from across the globe, showing the clinical benefits of reduced organ movement in the upright position. Being positioned upright allows gravity to do its work, a natural step toward reducing motion and improving treatment accuracy, however, there is still a need to immobilise patients during treatment for comfort and to further reduce motion.

Helping to consolidate and simplify the range required for all indications and workflows.
